Huntington Beach wins the 2011 Little League World Series of Baseball in Williamsport Pennsylvania on Sunday, making it 6 years out of 7 that a U.S. team has won the title.

The 2011 Little League World Series of Baseball ended in Williamsport, in the United States with Huntington Beach, California beating Hamamatsu City, Japan, 2-1 on Sunday in the final game of the series. This makes it that a team from the u\United States has now won six of the last seven World Series, with Japan winning last year’s title to spoil the run.

The start of the game was delayed for over three hours after the outer limits of Hurricane Irene brought more rain than had been expected to the area. Part way through the game, the clouds did clear, and it ended in a great win for the U.S. team.

Japan was the first team to score a run, unearned in the third innings, but it wasn’t long until Hagen Danner was able to get his team right back in the game when he hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning tying  the game at 1 a piece.

The Californian team of young boys was led by pitcher Braydon Salzman.

Then it was first baseman Nick Pratto who hit a solid liner to center field which allowed pinch runner Eric Anderson to collect the winning run. The game was over with a jubilant Huntington Beach taking the Little League World Series Championship, and the posing for photographs began as soon as the handshakes had taken place.
