Basketball stars do not always make the news for the best of reasons, but it is reported that Kobe Bryant and Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers who play in the National Basketball Association (NBA), have made sure that other members of their staff have not been forgotten, even though contracts have not been renewed.

Chris Bodaken and Patrick O’Keefe both worked in the video department for the Lakers this past season, but their contracts were not renewed, but Bryant and Fisher, as well as Luke Walton, another player, made sure that the men did not leave empty-handed. The team gave the pair $65,000 to split between them from the playoff bonus pool.

Bodaken said, “At the end of the day, he told us he was going to take care of us and he did, and that’s not how most people in the world operate. He not only talks the talk. He walks it.” Walton also gave gifts to the whole training staff of the Lakers. Before the lockout, the Lakers had reduced their staff by 20, which included training staff and the scouting unit.

The Lakers were disappointed with their season. They were aiming for a three-peat, but were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round when the Dallas Mavericks swept the series, and in fact it was the Mavericks who won the 2011 NBA Finals.
