A voluntary recall was issued by Kraft Foods Global, Inc. on Friday for some Velveeta Shells and Cheese products which could contain small pieces of thin wire bristle. This announcement, from the world’s second largest food company is not because of any complaints about the products, but simply as a precautionary measure.

The products under scrutiny are identifiable by their “best when used by” dates which are on the bottom of the packages. The products were manufactured in Champaign, Illinois as well as Lakeville Minnesota, but have been distributed to stores throughout the United States, but the recall does not affect Canada. as these products have not been shipped there.

If you find that you have any of these products, see details in table below, then it should not be eaten, but should be returned to the store for a full refund. If you have any questions, the consumer relations department will answer them if you call 1-800-308-1841 during regular business hours.

Kraft Foods Inc is a well-established household name, selling foods from biscuits to cheese as well as convenience foods to approximately 170 countries. Their revenue in 2010 was $49.2 billion. The company is planning to split into two publicly traded companies some time next year, one to handle the snacks market, and the other the grocery business.
