With the eastern United States still cleaning up after the flooding and power outages caused by Hurricane or Tropical Storm Irene,Tropical Storm Lee is now causing more concerns and worries, affecting many people’s plans for this Labor Day weekend.

Many people travel on what is considered to be the last day of summer before schools reopen, but with so much flooding in Vermont and New York City, Tropical Storm Lee is now causing flooding in Louisiana, with warnings of flooding having been issued for Alabama and Mississippi as well, where states of emergency have been officially declared.

In New Orleans, 20 inches of rain is expected to fall, and by Saturday morning over 5 inches had already fallen and winds were gusting up to 60 mph in the city, according to the National Weather Service.-

With a Tropical Storm warning also in effect from the Alabama and Florida border to the Sabine Pass on Texas, this long weekend is looking very much like a weekend not to travel. In fact there are many families who are being evacuated in the lower areas close to rivers which are rising fast.

If you do have travel plans for these areas, make sure you pack emergency supplies in case you are caught in the storm, and check with local radio and television stations for the latest news. If you are planning on flying, check with your airline before heading to the airport.
