The Canadian team from Langley, British Columbia achieved a 5-3 win over Chinese-Paipei at the 65th 2011 Little League World series for baseball in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on Monday, something no other Canadian team has been able to do in 16 previous attempts.

This win improves the Langley team to 2-1 in this double knock out tournament, which has now lost Chinese Taipei from the tournament since they lost their opening game to Mexico. Representing the Asia Pacific region they have won the tournament 17-0 previously, and the win over the powerhouse was both unexpected but rewarding.

This moves Langley into another must win game which will be played Tuesday against Japan who beat Saudi Arabia 13-4 after being 4-3 down following the first two innings.

Yi-An Pan is the starting pitcher for Langley, and was the star of Monday’s game along with his twin brother Yi-Fan Pan, who were born in Taiwan. Yi-An Pan hit the first home run of the series for Langley, and so far it is the longest home run of this baseball series.
