Toronto International Film Festival releases a short film on the anniversary of 9/11, about their experiences 10 years ago.

The Toronto International Film Festival which began its 36th event last night in Toronto, Canada, is set so show a short film on Sunday to mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the United States, which will feature the impact that the attacks had on the festival filmmakers present and the festival bosses.

As a result of the attacks almost ten years ago, many film makers from the U.S. were stranded in Canada when planes were grounded and travel across borders impossible as borders were closed for days. On the day of the attack the festival shut down for the remainder of the day, and after considering canceling the remaining five days, organizers decided to go ahead, but without any of the parties or red carpets which are normally part of the events.

The stars and movie makers who were in town canceled their planned interviews so they could stay glued to the news channels to find out what exactly was going on in the United States, and try to reach friends and family that they knew were involved in the explosions.

The four minute film will be shown before every screening on Sunday instead of sponsors’ advertisements which are usually shown.
